If Jesus Christ is your Lord and Savior, you are righteous. Period. You stand before God without a single fault. You are perfect in his sight. Because of the Blood of Jesus, because of what Jesus did and went through for you, you are completely forgiven of ALL your sins....past, present, and future.
There is NOTHING you can do to mess that up. Don't let ANYONE tell you any different.
When Adam sinned in the garden of Eden, we all became sinners. HOW UNFAIR!!!! Nothing anyone did after that could make them righteous. No matter how 'good' someone was, (and there were a lot of what we would call 'good' people)it was never good enough to make them righteous. Fast forward to Jesus' on the cross, having done nothing wrong, hanging there to take our place. HOW UNFAIR!!!! He says, "It is finished". Now, when someone accepts what Jesus did for them, NOTHING can take that away. Now, no matter what we do wrong, it is already forgiven and under the Blood and we cannot be UNrighteous. Think about it.
The Bible says that Jesus died for all our sins ONCE forever. What you do has NOTHING to do with whether you are righteous or not. You ALREADY ARE.
You are the righteousness of God solely because the sacrifice of Jesus made you so. When you mess up.....WE ALL DO.....THAT is the time to say to God, "I am so glad that you have forgiven me through Jesus work on the Cross. Thank you that I am still perfect before you now."
I tell ya, it takes some time to really let this all sink in, but it is truth. The devil would like you to feel so bad that you beat yourself up and feel guilty and horrible all the time when you blow it. Rom 8:1 "Therefore, there is now NO CONDEMNATION to those who are in Christ Jesus." Praising God forever for this!!!
The great exchange.............Jesus took our place so that we might take His place. He did not deserve to be made sin, but He was made sin in our place. We did not deserve to be made righteous, but we were made righteous because we received His righteousness.
This is truly the Gospel.....GOOD NEWS.....pure Grace.
